Persons Served
NOVA’s PRTF program serves children and adolescents from 5 to 17 years of age with complex behavioral and emotional challenges based on DSM-5 diagnoses.
Referrals and Admissions
NOVA’s PRTF program accepts Referrals through the Admissions / Authorizations Coordinator and the Consumer Affairs Coordinator from Parents / Guardians, Physicians, Behavioral Health Professionals, other Providers and MCO/LME staff. Once the Referral is made and the completed Application Packet is received, NOVA’s Team makes a prompt Admission decision and immediately informs all Stakeholders. If the Admission decision is favorable the Admissions / Authorizations Coordinator and Consumer Affairs Coordinator expedite all admission logistics.

Services
The
Residential Program
provides 42 individual bedrooms in 4, 6-bed homes / facilities and a new 18-bed state-of-the-art facility. A Clinical Manager / QP and a compliment of Residential Managers and Residential Supervisors provide basic and clinical oversight and ensure:

a safe and homelike living environment;
●
mentoring regarding symptom management; PCP goals; self-direction and moral development;
●
integration of Evidence-based Practices
The Maplewood and Cedarwood facilities house:
●
the Psychiatry and Medication Management program;
●
the office of the Primary Care Physician;
●
the 24 hour Nursing Services;
●
the offices of Clinical and Therapy Services;
●
the Admission, Consumer Affairs and Case Management programs;
●
the classrooms and offices of the Non-public School; and,
●
the Offices of the Program Administration staff.
The
Education Program
is registered as a Non-Public School and is a Certified Special Education Program.
Clinical and Therapeutic Services
are supervised by a Board Certified Psychiatrist, a Board Certified Licensed Psychologist and a Board Certified Primary Care Physician. Licensed Professionals provide individual, group and family therapy using evidenced-based, and best practices. While 24 hour Nursing services are overseen on site by the RN, Program Director and Primary Care Physician.
Outcome Measurement
NOVA’s Dr. John E. Ford Treatment Center uses the Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale (BPRS) to assess the treatment outcomes for PRTF Services. It is administered at Admission and Discharge, and aggregate data are compiled and analyzed annually.
Nonviolent Practices
NOVA strives to limit the use of Restrictive Interventions, and only allows the use of Therapeutic Wraps and Seclusion for brief periods to ensure Consumer Safety.
